In the grand scheme of things, how bad is it to have mismatched cabinets? I already have an Aguilar GS112 which I got with a Markbass New York 121 already on order. I can return the markbass, the Aggie I can't. Would you....

1. Keep the Aggie and the markbass (which I got for a steal) and use them together.
2. Sell the Aggie and buy another markbass
3. Return the markbass and try to find another Aggie?

The problem is that you can't predict it, even with the same size drivers. Driver size in and of itself only affects dispersion, so two different twelves may have completely different response characteristics. They may play nice, they may be as compatible as water and oil.

I'd return the Mark, sell the Aggie and pick up an Aguilar GS212 for $400 used. Awesome cabs. -Luke

Use both alone, decide which you like best, lose the other, get another the same.

But if you end up liking both try both together and if you like the way they sound together - keep them and use them.

Bill FM of course gave the correct answer. Basically, different cabs have different power handling capabilities. The weaker one will likely blow up or at least cripple the stronger one (because it's not being utilized as effectively as it could be).

Keep both cabs - one to leave at rehearsal?
