I'm in the process of reassembling a stage rig. I don't play out that often, but when I do, it is usually a festival-type setting, so I like a "big" rig. I've had success in the past with something that ends up with four 12" speakers....two 212's, one 212 and two 112's, etc. Also in the past, all of the cabs were made by the same manufacturer, and the same series (Aguilar GS or DB series, for example).
So to my question, would there be a notable difference if I mixed manufacturers? For instance, having an Aguilar GS212 and two Bag End S-12D's...or whatever the mix may be. I know this may seem like a silly question, but I was wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with this.....other than mixing a high end cab with a cheap one, which I wouldn't do anyway.

I think my preference is going to be the one 212 and two 112 route...just because it allows a little more flexibility. I'm probably going to end up with a 2 ohm load...with a 4 ohm 212 and two 8 ohm 112's.

In fact, at this point, it looks like I'll using a Mesa Big Block 750. I may end up with an Aguilar DB750 eventually, but I got such a good deal on the BB, I couldn't pass it up.

I would get two or three identical cabs from the same manufacturer.

Mixing brands usually means mixing speaker models, and the results will be unpredictable.
