Mixing Speakers?

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I've blown out another speaker as of last nights' rehearsal. Unfortunately the direct replacements I've ordered in the past from Fliptops are on a 2 week 'special order'...but I can't wait that long with a couple shows coming up over the next few weeks.

I've an older model Ampeg 810E and have been purchasing the EH 100w speakers, but could go with an Eminence 150w. I'd like to eventually upgrade all my speakers to a higher wattage, but it's nothing I can do all at once.

My question is...will the mixed types have any negative impacts that I should be concerned about or would it be good to go?

I'd replace the speakers in pairs, in the same chamber ... I've replaced the top set in my 8x10 with the Jensen MODS and I like how they sound ... there are several threads on this subject

There are several threads that generally talk about how bad of an idea it is for bass cabinets to do so.
