Basically, I have stumbled upon some cash. I have enough basses, and I really like my Ampeg SVT 4 Pro.

I also like my 8 ohm Avatar 410 Neo. It's the only cab I've ever had, so I wondering what else I can get.

I have considered getting another 8ohm Neo to have a a massive setup for those rare gigs I really need it.

Or getting a 4ohm Avatar. From that I understand, I could get more out of a 4 ohm cab.

From what I have read and heard, I really like Mesa's Powerhouse 610.

I love mid-rang, you average amount of bass, and little amounts of treble.

Yes, I know the expression, "If it aint broke, don't fix it," but I am feeling a little frisky.

Enlighten me, TB!

the SVT 4 Pro does handle 4 Ohms, real well.

I would look at another Avatar 8 Ohm Cab if I were in your position,

but I can say lots of great things about the SVT 4 Pro into an Ampeg 610 HLF (which is my Rig) and I can get that sounding quite mid rangey with my Passive Jazz Basses.

Might be worth considering getting a Cab for the Low frequencies and then Bi-amp with your current cab taking full range and the new cab taking just the low frequencies, something I am considering for the future (although I am considering another 610 HLF just to properly enclose our drummer with one either side of him)

I don't envy you your decision, but I envy your position to have that decision to make.

whatever you get, post sound clips and Enjoy!

the cheapest way to go, and probably a good way to go as well, is a second avatar 410 neo. i don't think i'd bother with a 4 ohm cab in your spot. the extra wattage boost by going 4 ohms just isn't all that significant. that head into an 810 rig should be plenty.

I do enjoy having one cab, for mobility purposes, which is why I have considered on 4 ohm cab.

And for a low frequency cab, what do you suggest? Avatar or 212? Mesa Powerhouse 115, which I have used as a stand alone cab. It responded well!

EDIT!!!!
Seems like most people are suggesting another Avatar. Seems like a good idea to me too. Thanks JimmyM for the incite on the 4 ohm vs 8 ohm!

no prob. i'll also add that if you're considering a 4 ohm 410, you might want to take into account that with most 410's, you're lucky to run a 400w amp on full before the cab rebels. even with neos, rare is the 410 that can take much more than that.

+1 to jimmy- and for another identical 410. matching cabs ALWAYS pair well, where anything else will be a gamble, and even if you nget lucky, won't sound as good as 2 of the same.

Thanks everyone!

I found a Avatar for $250. It looks like poop, but I am going to investigate it.

If I buy it, I know my brother/ guitarist, will be upset, as it means we have less room in the 4Runner to gigs.

OTOH if you are satisfied with what you have, stash the money away for a rainy day. In this economic climate it could start pouring without warning!
