Question Mods to be done on my Ampeg Micro VR.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking about having Mike at Putnam guitars mod my cute little amp.

I want to have him replace the Pre section of the amp with a Sansamp VT Bass pedal. (With working effects loop and DI.)

I want him to replace the Power section with a 500W amp.

That way my baby amp actually sounds like the SVT I want, at a fraction of the weight, and can drive a 410hlf cab, plus it is adorable.

Any ideas, suggestions, or cautionary words?

Why not just build an enclosure that is identical in shape and form to your original?

Place a markbass or Shuttle in the inside along with the pedal in the FX loop. I am sure Loud would sell you a faceplate and fliptops sells the tolex... You could rout the pots from the pedal to the faceplate.

loud sell someone a micro vr faceplate? don't count on it.

i'll tell you...this is one of the crazier ideas i've heard. your money, though, and mike's work is pretty stellar, so if you don't mind spending the bucks, i think it'll turn out well.
