Anybody have any practical experience with either the Eden or the Ampeg? We've reconfigured the stage at the church I play and a wedge would be optimal for the space I have. |

Concept was fine but the BM12 was a bit light on the bottom end, something I find pretty endemic to SWR speaker cabinets. I would expect either of the ones you mentioned to sound fine.

I've always got PA support so it is usually strictly a personal monitor for me, but occasionally for smaller low volume gigs it stands on its own. I started out with a older Carvin 2x10 wedge and had more or less settled on it, not particularly happy with its sound but loving the form factor. Then I ran across the Ampeg cab when I was on the road and the difference was night and day. Always used a separate amp/rack. I haven't used the Eden enough to provide an useful opinion. |

Personally I don't like it. From what little I understand of cab design the wedge shape makes the internal volume too small to get good lows. With the Eden I also find I have to turn down the tweeter.
It works, it's small, and tames stage volume, but if I had a choice I wouldn't use it.
Maybe a 1x12 kick-back would be better, not sure.
The best monitoring I had was with my LDS 12/6.5 in front of me and angled so it pointed at me and then behind me to the drummer. Then we both got a good amount of bass and the throw out to the crowd was minimal. It's often difficult to set the stage up so this can be done.

This will handle 5 strings nicely and handle close to 500W w/out the farts. Should have this framed up later this weekend, will post pics if possible

| | was that a snowball? | | | | | Personally, I will avoid the Ampeg BA115 from now on. Not bad for playing in the bedroom, or intimate-type acoustic gigs, but if you are going full band, you may get buried. |

| | | | My church has a GK 2X10 cab tilted back sitting beneath the grand piano. Frees up a lot of room and sounds fine. Each service has a different bassest and they sit facing the audience and the cab is pointed at a 90 degree angle to the left. It's pointed at the 10 member praise singers who line up across the stage. Choir may get some of the bass but probably not a lot. House gets it from the subs beneath the stage. It's a combo, probably 250 watts or so. It's not seen due to ferns hiding it, but the basest can reach over quickly to adjust any settings. The piano above keeps the sound from going up too much. Probably either cab you've mentioned will do the job. Our sanctuary has a 25 foot ceiling and seats 600. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
