Mono Bridged Neutrik Speakon for Ampeg SVT 4 Pro

Sign in to disble this ad
I just purchased an SVT 4 Pro from a seller on Ebay.

After watching this video:
YouTube - Ampeg's Mono Bridged Cable and Speakon Connectors

I'm wondering if I can just buy one of these chords somewhere?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also I'm going to be running this through an Ampeg 610 cab
The cab should be able to handle this head no problem right?
I mean I'm not gonna blow anything am I?

Thanks.

that cab won't handle the whole bridged amp. but if you know how to keep an eye on your volume and not push it to the breaking point, you can use it bridged. i don't know about buying bridged mode speakons, but they're easily switched over to bridged mode with a philips screwdriver. i forget what wires go where, but it's on here somewhere, and i'm sure someone will post instructions shortly.

As long as you can open the Neutrik speakon end by unscrewing it, you can be successful. Read the manual ( Mono Bridged Connection) and look for the fine print - it will tell you what each end should be wired too.

You only need to rewire one end - the speakon connector that goes to the amp. The other end is already wired correctly - this end goes to the speaker.

For the amp end
The speakon connector has the lettering and numbering already on it. Pin 1+ is (+) and Pin 2+ (-). All you need is a Phillips screw driver to loosen the screw holding the wire in place. Move the wires to the correct "numbers" as I told you. Boom, done. It's really easy to do - make sure you mark which speakon is for the amp - duct tape works great for that. Seriously though, I did it on my first try and this is coming from a dude who ended up melting EMG Tone Pots with a soldering iron twice!

Save your money - this is brain dead simple to do. Have a flashlight or really good lighting to see the numbering on the connector.
