Here's the deal, I pick up another smallish rig because the price was right.
SWR Bass 350 (redface from '96 or '98)
SWR WM210T (8ohm)
i figure on using this on stage at church because my 12" combo is working too hard with my lakland 5, due to having to EQ it to hear over the lead guitar players amp.
So I use it for the morning service and it's not too bad, i've got more volume and it will handle the bass boost from the SWR head, but it takes a healthy dose of bass to accomplish the sound I'm after. Much better overall, but not stellar.
For the evening service i grab my AMP BH-260 and give it a go, just to see how it sounds with the same cab.
My jaw fit the floor and stayed there. I ran the AMP dead flat on the EQ, but with the "enhance" button engaged. i know, that's no longer "flat", but a preset EQ curve. The tone was huge and fat. Much warmer than the SWR with its tube preamp. I know this is a common bragging point on the AMP heads, but it was so obvious that it wasn't even a comparison.
I've had this head for several years now, but i've only heard it sound so massive once before with my old Peavey 410TX, which I no longer have.
Anyone else have similar amp nirvana moments, on a budget, quite by accident?
