More Gainy sound on a 300w ashdown

Sign in to disble this ad
So i bought a nicely used 300w Ashdown combo (4x10) for 400$.
Great sound, love the UV meter, but the tone always ends up a bit funkier then i want.

I'm playing on my custom jazz bass (copy, Jack & Danny) with rickenbacker bridge and neck pickups + a switch choosing between them both running to one jack or splitting to diffirent jacks.

I got the sound i liked before (Rush, 77-82) with a GLX-35-B,
but 35 watts isn't enough.

So I'm asking, are there any bassist getting a good, heavy gain, rickenbacker sound with an Ashdown amp ?

I could never really get that kind of sound of my Ashdown MAG 300.

I'd switch amps or maybe grab a Tech 21 VT bass pedal.

This. I have a Mag300 head, It sounds pretty good but you wont get a real dirty tone out of it. Grab a SansAmp pedal, either a ParaDriver or a VT. I've trurned the Mags EQ off and use a VT Deluxe.
