More GK 2001 rb bridge mode???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

Having a bit of trouble understanding all there is to play with and just how flexible my amp can be in situations. I'm not technical, as you will easily pickup, so any help is appreciated.

So... having played my GK2001rb for a while now i'm coming to realise there is alot of flexibility with power here, different cabs, bridge mode etc.

I recently took my cabs into the shop to get fitted with speakon inputs so I can take advantage of the bridged mode, getting more power using less cabs. The thing im thinking here is, I have to use a 2pole speakon cable as my cabs are not GK branded cabs, so my cabs are fitted with 2pole speakon inputs - simple.

What happens if I turn up to a show where I am not using my cabs, am i going to need a 2pole speakon to 4pole speakon cable to be able to run my amp bridged into different cabs?

It's taken my an age, and alot of advise (Thanks Jon) to get this far in the versatility of running my amp so anything else would massively help.

Cheers,

Rob

You will have to know how the cabinets that aren't yours are wired. They might just be wired with only two pins like your own cabinets. In that case, you should be good to go as ever. I'm not sure how many other companies make cabinets that actually utilize four pins like GK.

And yes, Jon is very helpful with GK stuff

Edit: even if your cabinets are built with 2 pin speakon connectors, you can still use a 4 pin cable both ways. The 2 extra pins that normally serve the horn just won't have a complete circuit, so it's nothing to worry about, no damage done. Can you turn the bi-amp off on that head (I forget)?

Thanks!

I cant turn the Bi-amp off however it only works with the GK cable into a GK cab, so its no worries.

with the 2pin connetors and 4pin cable is it the same deal the other way round, so if i have a 4 pin connector and 2 pin cable: no harm done there?

Bridge mode is capable with a 2-pin speakon. No need for a 4-pin at all if you're using non-GK cabs.
