A more HiFi backup to my RH450

Sign in to disble this ad
Starting the search for an affordable backup to my RH450 head.
The RH450 is close to exactly what I want/need, but I do have the need for a clean punchy hifi sounding head sometimes. Want to stay small and light... at least as small and light as the RH450.

So... what are thoughts on these as a hifi compliment the RH450?

GB Shuttle 6
GK MB500
Markbass F1
Markbass F500

Thoughts? Comparisons? Harsh completely irrational warnings?

.

Makes sense to me. I would say the MB LMII is the obvious choice.

My feeling from videos and clips that the LMII has a nature more 'like' the RH450 than different and somewhat darker'ish, which is not the preference for this backup. Looking for something less dark than the RH450, clearer and more hifi on the top end.

I'd say the Littlemark III is too close to what you have with the TC head.
For Hi-Fi, Genz 6.0 but somewhat attenuated lows. Also the GK MB-500 Which has a wide response and very effective eq for dialing in lots of tone feel. Super strong for it's rating watts too.

I agre on the LMII or III. It can cop the RH450 vibe and the RH450 can cop it's vibe with no problem.

If I had to jump toward something quick for a backup I'd probably go Shuttle 6, MB500, or MB F1 in no specific order. The MB500 has me intrigued. I know i like the GB tone. And KJung's F1 / RH450 videos are identical to my preferred tonal preferences.

So I don't think I could 'go wrong' with any of the 3.

I have read a few people comment on the latest model being super quiet and issue free for an extended time. I've played various versions and really like this amp. Cut a bit of the super lows and highs and it is right where I like it for me. But there are tons of various settings in that tiny box.

If you go with the mb-500 be sure to get an email quote from rmcaudio.com . They are the cheapest I've seen. And again, email them for the quote because it will be less than their already lowest internet price.

They're just east of Nashville. Not worth driving my gas-hog v8 4x4 down there, but close shipping anyhow.

Unfortunately, the savings there will be ate up by the in state tax by buying it from them, so it's a wash... essentially.

Wow. I drove all the way to Columbus to hear my Bergantino HT112. I have to drive to Chicago or Peoria to see anything at all.
Anyway, I only recommended the LMII because my LMII is awfully clear sounding w/no noticeable bumps in the ol' EQ curve.
