Motion Sound PRO-3X

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried playing their bass through one of these, and if so how it sounded.

Here's info on it:

EDIT: I'd be interested in the PRO-3T or PRO-3 models as well... they all seem similar.

You're looking for a Leslie-type effect (rotating speaker/flanging type effect). Is this for live sound or recorded sound? If the latter, it's easy to acheive that effect through software/processing. If live, I can't see needing the effect all that much. Of course, if the band/someone else is paying for it, by all means go nuts! But if it's your wallet, I'd buy a good flanger-type effect and be done with it. MHO of course.

our band has one of those (Motion Sound PRO-3X) for the HAMMOND Suzuki XK1 that we have used in recordings . . .

FWIW, there are a pair of horns that rotate/spin to give the high frequency Leslie effect . . . the lows (below about 1KHz) are sent through a mono "simulator" that provide the low and mid frequency Leslie effect . . .

I don't think this would be a good investment for adding the Leslie effect to a bass guitar . . . there just aren't any high frequencies (to speak of) in a bass guitar (usually) . . . so, this would be a VERY expensive way to get the same fx as you could with any Leslie-type pedal . . .

YMMV, IMO, etc.

I'm looking to pick one up very soon.

I'm getting it primarily to play the melody side of my Chapman Stick through.

However, I'll be routing it in a way that my basses (fretted and fretless BB5000s, NXT EUB, and Chapman Stick bass) can access it.

This device is crossed over at 800Hz for the rotary horn and the lower frequencies are rotary-simulated and sent to a separate amp.

Leslie effect peddle instead. You don't need the rotating horn.
