Music Man 115B Combo

There isn't alot about these out there so I thought I would post up mine. Hands down my favorite solid state amp and my go to for recording. One 15" speaker, 100 watts with the stock speaker 120 watts with an extension. I used to have the head version (which I think is a 120B) but I foolishly sold it. I will probably try and get another one some day.

I knew not many people had these but I figured I could find at least one person.

I never had one but a friend owned one with an EVM 15B in it--sounded cool. Don't they have a tube power section, or is that just the guitar amps?

Some of the guitar amps had that. This bass amp is 100% solid state. Very tube like in tone though. I find it to be better than the Ampeg B-100 that I had.

Greetings from another central PA guy, I'm up around Williamsport!

Last I saw of these was back in the 80s, I remember a guy doing a blues band bar gig up in Ithaca, NY with one and it sounded great with a P bass. As I recall, it was built like a tank.

I'd forgotten about these MusicMan combos, thanks for reminding me.

115B - 120

I have one of these, given to me by Music Man back in the early 80's (at the time I was in a well known Australian band touring the U.S.) . I love it and have used it ever since then with my '73 precision. A few problems along the way with a strange hum and loud pop when turning it on but a great sounding amp and very convenient size for rehearsing. I add an EV TL cabinet when needed and it kicks like a mule. I live in Sydney, Australia and I've ever heard of one other like it in this country in 30 years.

I had two of the 120B heads, one had black grille cloth, and the other had silver. They were 80 watts @ 8 ohms, not 100. They were made in '82 (I believe all of them were). There were also 112B and 112BX combos. Anyway, I used mine with a 15" cab and liked it better than my SWR Redhead, but ended up replacing it with a Portabass because I wanted the DI out.

Ive had a 115B combo since the mid 80s and Ive never found anything that sounded as good. My friends borrow it to record with.

The guitar counterparts of these are loud as baaaaaaaaaaaaallllllzzz. I find it weird that they made bass amps that have, seemingly, mild specs.
