So anyone here actually use it? I've got several potential projects hanging out in the garage and am trying to prioritize. I'm thinking of dropping a couple Celestion neos in it and seeing what's what, but I don't have a lot of opportunities to roll dice with cabs in a relevant setting. I've had varied results in the real world with LF horns in a bass rig in the past, so I'm wondering if anyone can comment on their experiences. I bought it with roached original speakers and have never gotten it together.

I'd probably use it with my early YBA-3. Maybe a B15N amp section. I can't see it ever being my main rig, but still curious...

Make that 212 RH...

Whoops - its model number is 212 RH. Here's a couple shots, including a detail of the horn fold.

I really liked mine (which I bought new in 1976). I wish I'd kept it, but I sold it around 1995 or so, and since then I've learned a lot about cabinets. I wonder if I'd like it now.

Bump!

Nice pics!

I'm replacing the speakers in one of these right now. It's being used in a recording studio with the Sixty Five HD head. Not exactly sure which route to take.

The stock drivers are sorta lightweight AlNiCo guitar speakers and totally torn up in need of recone. Especially since these cabs were designed for bass. I'm thinking of putting a pair of Eminence Alpha 12A or Beta 12A in there.

The lower fs and higher power handling should help with the bandwidth of this cab when being used for bass. But i'm worried the Betas may sound a little dull and that the Alphas need a much bigger cab to sound right...

Looks like you got some bigger ceramic magnet drivers in yours, but still prolly guitar drivers with paper surrounds... how's the LF extension with your setup?

ooops. sorry I missed your post.

They actually marketed all the RH cabs for guitar, bass or keyboards. They had a premium EV speaker upgrade that probably would have worked better for bass. The speakers in mine are shredded, too and I still haven't got it put together. Have you?

I gigged for years with my HD130 and 212RH. Sounded great, according to other players besides me. I still have them both. Hmmm... maybe I should resurrect them.

I put a pair of speakers from an old Acoustic 130 with cloth surrounds in ours... sound great and almost cuts it for a bass cab. I wonder how my Eden 12s would sound in there... or a pair of Beta or Delta 12s?

I wonder what the tuning on these cabs is? How low these "horn" enclosures really can go and what driver would be optimum in them?

MR. Fitzmaurice?

The nice thing is that are about the size of a 412... only a little deeper.

The factory speakers were 8Ω so the 212RH was a 4Ω box. I really liked mine best with the HD-130 head.

I'd try them both and see what sound best to me.
