Musicman 65 head?

Sign in to disble this ad
Came across this old head in good shape and was wondering if this rely is a good choice for both bass and guitar in a home studio. Or is it only a good guitar head for clean tones?

My band mate is a cheapskate who only uses modled amps for his guitar parts. Was thinking of buying this so we could both get a warmer organic tone before recording.Pretty cheap compared to buying a fender bassman for example, guy wants around 350$ for it.

Sorry for my ignorance.

I've had a 65 and a hd130. Both were fun and good but not great for both guitar and bass, took effects very well, but didn't really have the sound that I wanted. Both were also very noisy, much louder than my svt so I'm not sure it's your top pic for home recording. It sounds best opened up versus bedroom volume, but not a real break up amp. I can say that with a guitar and some zvex pedals they can sing.

Thanx for the feedback. I'm rely happy with my kustom DE200 kombo, for practice/recording just thought the musicman sound would work great for our hard/prog/jazz rock project. 2 in 1, but if the bass is not up to it maybe not.One of my favourite guitar player Gary Arce uses an old musicman head. Here is a live clip, the second clip illustrates that lush clean tone everyone is raving about at harmony central.
