I just picked up a MusicMan HD150 head, absolutely killer!!!! What a beast, I think I'm going to love this amp. One question though...the Hi/Lo power switch on the front, I assume it's to reduce the output wattage of the amp. But it doesn't make a difference which position I have it in, same volume....loud!! Is something possibly not working correctly??
Try comparing that Hi/Lo power switch when your playing a LOUD open-E string. If the switch is working the change should be more easily noticed when playing lower register notes especially if you pluck the string hard. You might not notice all that much of a volume difference, but those loud low notes should have more definition and a tighter feel with the switch set at full power.
I have the combo version of this amp, and I'm very familiar with its design. The hi/lo switch changes the power tube's plate voltage (B+) between four hundred something volts on the 'lo' setting to over 700 volts on the 'hi' setting. It probably doesn't make the amp louder but should increase the clean headroom on the 'hi' setting.

I've been running the amp below since '75..... set it on high and turn it down via the master to your liking and forget it. Unless you want to get some "break up" at lower volume the low setting doesn't do much. Great amp though!
Is something possibly not working correctly??
