MusicMan Stack or Bergie HT322?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok so here's the deal. I have the option of snagging a MusicMan Audiophile stack - two 1x15s and the head (don't know the wattage, it has two power tubes in the back and I don't remember which kind) for a grand.

OR

An HT322 for seven bills. I have a question about one of the ten inch speakers in it though. This is the black grill model and I was wondering if the two tens are supposed to be different in color. One is grayish except for the dust cap and the other is black. Is this normal or is one speaker an aftermarket/recone?

Thanks guys!

Well, if I was you I'd go for the MusicMan stack because not only have I only heard raves about it, it is also a very rare bird, somewhat like Alembic cabs, and most likely you won't bump into it in the future whereas you could easily buy a Bergantino any day of the week.

So I went with the MusicMan gear. By the time I got to it, it was only a half stack. But I'm not complaining. More money for the next cabinet. So this is what I got:

MusicMan 100B Head
MusicMan 115RH Seventy Five

No where on any of it does it say "Audiophile" and looks to be a bit older. I'm guessing the cabinet has a 75 watt speaker in it? I haven't the slightest idea what speakers are in the older MusicMan cabs. I know the newer ones used B&C. The head and cab compliment eachother nicely and together have this nice, sweet, chewy midrange. Sounds a lot like my Diesel 1x15 but better. I talked 'em down to $700 and got a free speaker cable.

Worth it? I think so. What about you guys?

After owning many Musicman amps/speakers over the years I think you paid too much. The RH series cabs usually go for $150ish. I picked up a 130 head for $400. But only you can determine if it was worth it. It was most definitely over priced at $1k.
