is my amp dying on me?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

the past few days I've had troubles playing. I have one of those small, rehearsal Peavey amps, 10w I believe. If I've not used it for a while I can typically turn it on and start playing, but after a couple of minutes it'll start to make white noise and then it'll die with a popping sound. Sometimes the sound will come back momentarily, but it's basically impossible to play for a long period of time. What can I do?

*e* It might be a problem with my active electronics?

Try replacing the battery in your active bass.

+1 and then, consider getting a nicer amp. You won't believe how good you'll sound.

I feel a bit embarassed to say this, but yes. It was battery. I changed it and now it's okay. Thanks! I haven't had to change it since I bought the bass, so it didn't occur to me at all.

The batteries in mine last for over a year and they are all running on 18V. I change mine out every time I replace the batteries in my fire alarms.
