My Amp Finally Went

So should I just get a power amp? It would be cheaper for me than buying a good quality dedicated bass head and I already use a VTBass as my front end. Also, anyone else driving a power amp with a VTBass? What are your thoughts?

Lets say I have about $350 to spend...

You could pick up a Crown Drivecore XLS 1500 for about $369 right now, I just picked up an XLS2000 cause my amp also just died, here's my thread Just pulled the trigger on a Crown XLS 2000!

it'll be a few days before I try it out with my BDDI, but I've read everything I could find, and think they're as good a match as any, altho the XLS need to see 1.4mv at input to see full potential.

Just a thought.

I think if you don't need the certain sound of say a SVT at full tilt, or say a tube bassman at juuuusssst the right level of tubey mojo, if you like the sound of your VT/pre/digi whathavyou than a poweramp is a very smart way to go dude! good luck!

No. But I don't have three months to wait for it to come back either, unfortunately. FMIC will likely charge me more than a quarter of what a brand new power amp would cost.
