So...I had a kid and sold my super sweet house to move in with the in-laws (free day care).

The things I need to survive are at my current house.

The things I don't need to survive are in storage.

There is no room at either place to store my gear.

Where has my main rig been living for 10 months?

In my car.

And it's not just my rig but all of my guitar related tools and books. (Soldering iron, set-up tools, manuals, etc.)

My bass comes inside with me but, even that gets tripped over at night.

I feel like my rig is without a country.

No where to call home.

Where would you put it?

I was thinking about telling everyone I bought a new sub for the TV.

I did watch Jurassic Park once with the sound going through a bass amp. It shook the house.

I think you need to revisit your belongings in the storage unit and prune some more.

Hell I'd like to throw everything away in my storage unit but, then I'd have to buy it again when I move. I keep reorganizing it because crap I need always seems to be way in the back.

I spent a few hours moving stuff around so I could roll my rig in and out of the storage unit. I was proud of myself. Until I had to put something else in there.

Pick out the cheap stuff then, and consider their re-purchase a rental fee. (except that it's one time.) Also, look for things that are going to rot, or became less valuable in some other way as they sit.

I have a distinct feeling your rig is:
1) more expensive than furniture
2) more appealing to thieves than furniture
3) more likely to be stolen from your car than furniture.

Just sayin'.

Get in a band, keep your stuff at the practice space.

When my amp was in storage I had lawn chairs in my car.

Lawn Chairs? you sold your house to move in with your inlaws for free daycare. Put those chairs on their deck.

Honestly it sounds like you dug yourself into a corner, so your probably gonna have to bite the bullet.

Lawn Chairs arent really usefull when you have a toddler running arround. Neither is deck furniture or anything else.

Perhaps you need to think about the future.

My first mistake was when I moved I was in a band and didn't foresee this situation. I didn't plan for it.

This isn't really a huge problem. I'm just joking around.

I am jamming with some dudes so, if it gets serious then that is an option.

I'm just joking around guys. I thought it was a funny situation.

I did put the chairs out back.

I should have used more of these then you would know I was joking.

Apparently I'm not funny today.

THIS IS SERIOUS

Definitely split a practice space with someone. You don't even have to be in a band to do it. Some other poor souls would love to get their rent cut down by someone who wants to store their gear and visit it every once in awhile

Oh. Well then it's likely the homeless man is living INSIDE your gig rig!

Always an option except...more money which I don't have.

I only go three places:
1. Work, where I can see my car from my desk.

2. Home. I live in the burbs. My stuff is safe.

3. Jam sessions. We'll I'm using my gear at this point.

Having my cab bounce around in my back seat when I slam on the breaks is just my constant reminder I need to get the f*** out of the in-laws.

I was house poor before but it was fun while it lasted.

Now I need a more reasonable home which will take me another year or so to get.
