My amps pre-amp into my d.i.?

I'm not sure if this is done, but I just got a sweet deal on a Radial JDV. My amp is the Ashdown ABM. I've used the d.i. on the amp most of the time, but would like to use the Radial if I can. I run the tube a little hot to get a touch of dirt in my sound. Now, obviously if I run from the Radial then into my amp, the sound going to the FOH won't have any "grind" to it. Couldn't I take the effects send into the Radial, then the thru jack back into my amps effect return, so that what's coming out of my amp is what's going to the board?

That will work IF the effects level doesn't overload the Radial. The Radial is (probably) expecting only instrument level, not line level.

Check the manuals for both the amp and the Radial. Perhaps the amp puts out instrument level for the effects, or the Radial can accept line level. If the levels look close, you should be good.

And you could always continue just using the amp's DI.
