A while back i decided to put a fan in my bass amp because it was over heating in my school's music room and since i was already putting in a 12v DC power system in i decided to add more than just a fan. So i added some cathode tubes i had around and an L.E.D bar to it so that the whole thing lights up blue. The power supply i added is soldered to the amp's AC power so when it turns on so do the lights and theres no extra wires outside of it. But anyways i was just wondering what others thought of my modifications.

I recently had a string of Red LEDs sitting around that had an adhesive backing so I wrapped them around my amp in the rack. Since I left space botha bove and below it for ventilation it now has this eery red glow. I liked it so much that I just ordered a similar string with an IR sensor and remote so I can change colors throughout a show. Haha. |

Would be neat if it was sound sensitive and coordinated with some color changes to go from that awesome blue glow when playing softly to bright red when hammering away. Im sure it can be done, but I've never seen it done to a cab before, just room lighting. It would have to be something without a lot of heat like LEDs I assume. |

That said, anything that makes YOU perform better is a good thing. The better you feel on stage, the better you play. I did not vote 'cause I don't want to interfere with the younger folk.
I admit to concerns about how you wired the AC feed for the DC power supply. I hope you added a suitably sized AC power fuse.

I hope you added a suitably sized AC power fuse. | In my case, it is to add to the overall "Show" aspect, the same as stage lights. The band that I use said amp in is an original Rock band playing dark stages and the visual aspect of the show, while certainly not as important as the audio and the performance itself, it is definitely important. If it amuses and interests people, I say go for it. That's the same reason I bring 3 cabinets if I'm playing a large stage. Do I need them? Certainly not. Do people think it looks cool, yes.
That being said, with my blues band it's a 1x15 and no LEDs. Haha. There's a time and place for everything.

| | | | that is very cool.
Also didn't realize that light could get through the cone.
For me the ideal would be to separate the power so the lights turn on separately. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
