My Bergantino HT322 tweeter control doesn't seem to do much

How much of a difference in tone is the tweeter control on a Berg HT322 supposed to provide? I generally just keep mine set at noon, but I recently noticed that turning it fully clockwise or counter-clockwise doesn't make much of a noticeable difference. Very subtle, if anything. By contrast, I can hear a difference with even a slight turn of the tweeter knob with my Aggie GS112.

Before I schlep this heavy cab to a shop to see if it needs a repair, I just wanted to check if what I'm hearing is normal or if the tweeter control is not functioning properly.

Turn the treble on the amp way up and turn up the volume. Without playing anything put your ear up to the tweeter, should hear a slight hiss if it's working.

Leave the treble way up and play something trebly like high notes with a pick and adjust the dial on the cabinet, should make a noticable difference.

Could be that the control is good but the tweeter is bad or the bulb fuse that should be there to help protect the tweeter is blown. Have to check that stuff inside the cabinet.

It should be totally off if turned all the way to the left. If you aren't hearing a difference it may be blown. There is no protection bulb.

That tweeter is so smooth and integrated that you won't notice a massive difference between noon and full on, but you should notice a MASSIVE difference between off and noon. However, this assumes you have a 'full range head and bass'. I guess if you are playing a P with flats with the tone control dialed down, you might not hear a lot of difference.

Probably the best way to 'test' your tweeter is to crank up you amp without your bass plugged in, and then just listening to the tweeter for different levels of high frequency noise as you vary the attenuator. If you don't hear any high frequency noise out of tweeter, most likely it is blown.

edit: Didn't see Will33's post prior to posting mine.... +1

If the control won't turn the tweeter completely off the LPad is either blown or it has a disconnected lead to ground.

I turned the master on the head all the way up and I was able to hear a hiss from the tweeter. Also, when I adjusted the Treble on the head, the hiss either +/-.

However, when turning the tweeter control knob on the cab, no change in the hiss.

So I guess the horn itself is still working; problem may be with the tweeter control unit itself.
