My Church is trying to decide between two amps to buy.

My church is going to purchase another bass head. The SWR 350 quit and for some reason cannot be fix again, and they didn't tell me why. They have a choice between a Ashdown MK 500 are a Fender Pro 400. Which ever they choose I will be using my Fender P and their SWR G III 410 cab. Its a fair size church 300 people, First service traditional music, Guitar, Piano, sometimes drum and me. 2nd service my favorite very contemporary. We have 6 singers 2 electric guitars, piano, drums,congas,1 acoustic and me bass. And a full house. I can't be there when they go look at these heads, but they ask my thoughts so I am asking yours. Both these heads are in mint condition. I tried to get them to buy something like a Hartke LH500. But the guy they are buying from is a friend of the Pastors.

And he won't allow them to bring both to the church to see which sounds better with their speakers???

Jimmy, I see from the sidebar that you're our latest supporting member, so there'll be no heckling the total hyper-elite members, OK?

And welcome aboard, youngster .

Yes he will but I can not be there, and they wanted my opinion. Since I am the bass player. The SWR Goliath III 410 they have is a nice cab. They wanted the head by next Sunday service. Anyway I thought I would ask you guys. I figure either would be okay. I sorted would like to try the MK but I want them to get the best for their money. I did tell them for the amount they are spending they could get a new LH500 but like I said its the pastors friend and he is making him some kind of deal.

Bringing them both in for the church's bassist to try out seems like a logical answer. Also, so they can be heard by others to see which tone they like better.

Like I said I can't be there and they are going to buy one. They are going to take my suggestion and the Guy who runs the P.A. I wish I could. My input will carry a lot of weight though. And cause I cannot be there is why I ask for you guys input, most of you know more then I do. They have a great P.A. I could just use a Sansamp pedal, But they bound to buy one of these two heads.

I'd go with the Ashdown if for no other reason than JimmyM said to. Well that and the added headroom, limited availability, and while probably a bit more time consuming to switch tones on than the fender still a nice piece of gear. Cheers.
