Question Is my Eden failing me?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anybody have any thoughts on this? It may be a simple tear, but I'm suspecting overexcursion.

I have a David Series Eden 115 XLT, which has been a real workhorse in the few months I've had it. I recently got a Stingray SUB5 & was thrilled at how my Eden NA320 handled the increased output and the 15" was right there with it.

Until last night.

The note E on the B string (5th fret) produces a ripping, farty sound. Other notes do as well, but to a lesser degree. I can EQ around it, but do so at a cost to overall fidelity. Which defeats the purpose of playing Eden in the first place.

Anybody want to weigh on with probable cause and thoughts on repair or replacement?

I have to play it on a gig tonight and I'm hoping it doesn't just go belly up. Bringing a backup 15" is not convenient!

Thanks All!

I have Eden gear..Had that happen twice. One time my active bass had a bad battery. the other time the head needed a new pre amp tube.

Look at the cone really close, check the surround, the voice coil, for tears. And try with another amp, fresh battery in the bass, or the old bass to make sure it IS the speaker.

Always try fixing the cheap stuff first if you're not sure what's wrong. 12ax7 tubes, bass batteries, cords, etc. Then take the expensive stuff in to be checked if you still can't tell.

My cab made a sort of whoppie cushion fart sound both times on certain notes. I too was able to tune it out. Hope your issue is an easy, cheap fix.

The farting B-string I experienced with my XLT was eliminated by lowering my pickups.
