My epifanis not working :'( Help please!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
i was playing around earlier and my epifani PS600 head went out on me. Its still producing sound, but its heavily distorted, the gain light (that says if the gains to high or not) stoped working, and the mute button stoped working.

Anyone have any ideas? The amps never been abused, just played normally.

Thanks and God bless
- neal

I would get a tech to look at it and consider using your warranty if it is still valid.

One thing going wrong is something to trouble shoot; multiple component failure is much different.

If the sound is heavily distorted, it's either a output device problem or a power supply problem (in other words, the output section of the amp is distorting because it's not getting the correct current supplied to it).
Output device problems are easy to troubleshoot - find an experienced tech.

When the time comes, would be interested in a ps600 and LMII comparison if you feel so inclined. In any case, think you'll really like the LMII...

As one who owned a UL502 and LMII at the same time, I don't think you are going to miss the PS600 much. The PS has a bigger low end and smoother, creamier tone, but that isn't necessarily a good thing in a mix. The LMIII will be much more evenly voiced, with a much more usable top end IMO and IME... a bit tighter, a bit punchier, and much more even from low to high.

And, I (and many others) find the Markbass voicing VERY nice with the Epi cabs (when Markbass was called Parsek back in the day, they provided the amp sections to the early Epifani combo's, and both companies, at one point, used B&C neo speakers).
