My first "gig" with my new Roland Cube 100

Well, I just got back from a church "gig" trying out my new (for me--it was bought used) Roland Cube Bass 100 amp.

This is one of the louder churches I play at, but today it was one of the more quiet drummers playing. Usually I go direct with my Zoom B2 and use their Fender Rumble 150 as a monitor. Today, the Zoom wasn't used except as a tuner.

My first impression on the Roland...nice tone (I used the flat setting without effects and my P-bass), but I had to push the volume a bit more than I thought that I'd have to. It had a lot of compression at higher volumes, almost a tube like sag feel. Kind of hard to explain.

The sound guys really liked the Roland's DI tone--better than my usual setup, and better than the DI on the Fender amp.

I like the Roland, it's perfect for what I do...but, if I were in a rock band playing clubs---I think that it would have trouble keeping up.
I definitely would have to use an extension speaker with one of the louder drummers.

The next time that I'm playing at the same church with their loudest drummer, I'll bring my powered speaker too (since I don't have an extension cab), and try that out...just to hear how it sounds with a little more volume.

I had one for 2 weeks before I sent it back. I really liked it though. I am thinking about getting the 120 watt version when I go back to the states.

The only thing I don't like is the power cord is not removable.
