Why don't you give us more info and perhaps it'll turn out to be an easy fix?

EDIT: if you bought it less than two years ago, it is indeed still under warranty, assuming you bought it new.

Brian from GK is on here. Maybe you should contact him, or Gk instead of venting on here with little information. Amps die all the time. PM Brian Clark.

i think you'd be surprised. i've had pretty decent luck with their customer service the time or two that i've needed it.

rather than just condemning them, give them a shot. worst that can happen is they won't bother. best case (and more likely, IMO) is that they'll make it right.

Sorry to hear it, pal. But, sounds like it's still under warranty. If so, they will do you good. Don't fret yet.

Sorry about your amp, but I'd look in the mirror regarding the gig - any experienced gigging bassist knows that gear can fail, and has some sort of backup plan in effect... I've literally played thousands of gigs, and have never experienced an amp failure *of my own*, yet still have a high quality DI with me every time I gig...

I always have PA support, so a DI works just fine in my situation for a "backup amp" - if I wasn't always PA supported, I'd bring an actual backup amp, just in case...

Best of luck with your amp, though - contact G-K, and they'll probably take care of you - even though you didn't go that route before making this thread...

Guess what...I just tried it again and now it works. I cant believe it. I tried everything at the gig.
What happened last night was not fun and i think i should send it to my repairman to prevent this from happen again in the future. And a backup will be bought. Anyways..im kind of happy again. Sorry guys!

I will pm a moderator and ask him to delete this thread.

Ps! My upright sounds really good with that amp. Recommended! (as long as it works

No apology necessary, and if I were you I would still have the amp checked out by a repair person. By the way, I've been using GK amps since 1985, and the only problem I've ever had was an input jack that needed to be replaced after about 25 years of continuous use. They are generally VERY solid amps. My guess is that your problem is a rare fluke that can probably be fixed easily.
Good luck!

Odin, this happens to us all at some time or another in our careers. Last week it happened to me on the last number of the evening. I brought the amp home and every thing worked as it should. Last night I used a different amp and again it cut out momentarily. Tracked it down to the jack on that bass. I have three similar instruments and I've had to replace the jacks in two of them. Doing so for this one is the next chore.

Here's a really embarassing story.

A long, long time ago, I bought a new GK 800RB. It worked great for a couple of rehearsals and shows, and then, suddenly, I got nothing but distortion and very weak output. My friend ran the guitar department in Boston where I bought it, so I was able to easily exchange it for a new one. With that amp, the same thing happened: It was okay for a few rehearsals and shows, and then it got quiet and distorted. Not long after that, I played a show where the backline had been rented from the same store, and I played through an 800RB which sounded particularly great. I exchanged my second non-functioning one for that one, even though my friend thought I was crazy for turning in a brand new one for a beat-up rental item. Not long after, THAT one started to do the same thing. Finally, I gave up and exchanged it for an SWR SM400. Before I had a chance to use the SWR, I used my old, trusty GK 400RB at a show, and IT did the same thing. I brought to a repair guy who figured out that the problem was the speaker cable which I had soldered myself (badly, obviously).

DUHHHHHHHH!!!

What an idiot!!!
