My ideal fingerstyle bass tone - what can give me this?

Sign in to disble this ad
Lets leave the "tone is in the fingers" discussion out for a bit

What small, lightweight combo can come close to giving me the tone in this video? (doesn't need a ton of power....more quality of tone and solid fundamentals at medium volumes)

YouTube - Victor Wooten ProSession Lesson - KORG.hu ZóNA

(scroll to 1:10 minute mark)

Looking for a:

*Low priced option (<$500 new)
*Medium priced option ($500 - $750)
*High priced option($750+)

...just to understand the market better.

To me that sound is light on the fundamentals and heavy on the harmonics which leads me to believe that he is favoring the bridge pickup. That really is the key to this kind of tone. If you don't have that part working there is no amp that will help. I think any quality amp with a clean channel can reproduce this tone.
