My Modulus through, headphones VS Amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
In your opinion..can a bass sound totally different from headphone playing,...to through a good amp.... what might sound bad through headphones im thinking, an amp will bring a good bass to life?

what do headphones do to a bass tone, that an amp does better... i guess it depends on the headphones... my modulus VJ4 sometimes sounds bad through headphones...

ive not had the chance to play it through my Aguilar set up because its stuck in a studio, and the studio owner is on holiday for 2 months... im getting bad vibes from the Modulus through my headphones.. just sounds very harsh...

You can send me that bass if you don't want it.

Well, having good headphones makes a difference. If you're running it direct, it'll be the bass's tone, close to purely (if you're using decent quality gear) in the headphones. A lot of people don't like this tone. I do sometimes. The ability to EQ the bass through the amp, the effect that the amp has on the tone, and the effect that the cab has on tone play in when you run it through your amp. It might be very different.

ha.. ive got a bit of a love hate relationship with it... i know its good but i havent played it live yet.. im comparing it all the time with the rounder tone of a Fender, which i swapped it for..

through the headphones comes from a Focusright interface into a Mac..

Strings will make a huge difference in zing even. Does one have newer (or different) strings? Oh, and you quoted me before I edited it. My post is now featuring more pointless commentary.
