My power amp did something strange...

Sign in to disble this ad
So I was at practice tonight, I plugged my cables into my power amp, and powered it up. The levels on the amp were off, and the attenuators were at zero, my instrument wasn't plugged in, nor was my pre amp. I should also state that I run my amp in Mono.
All of a sudden I hear a "Pop" I look at my power amp and the right side level lights are clipping. I quickly turned it off, and I smelled a burning smell. I figured I had some blown drivers, so I powered it back up, I tested the speakers, they were all operating fine. The burnt smell is coming from the amp, I have no idea what could have happened, the amp still plays but I noticed the input is a bit more sensitive now.
I'm taking it to my tech first thing tomorrow, I have a tour starting friday, hopefully everything is fine.

If anyone knows possible issues let me know.

you might tell us what make and model it is. could be a burnt out capacitor maybe? they have a distinctive and unpleasant smell when they cook, hopefully you'll never smell it.

But it still powers up, maybe a spike in electricity?
