MY TC ELECTRONICS BH500 RIG

Sign in to disble this ad
I thought some of you may be interested to see some photos of my new rig, a TC electronics BH500 with two BC2x12 cabs .
I have photographed it next to my GKMB210 with MBE115 cab to give a comparison .
It is a very impressive amp with some great features, the tube tone sounds great and the presets are very handy as we play covers by a lot of different bands so its nice to hit the button and have a different tone to suit a particular style

I can only compare it to my GK rig, I ran them side by side with the same EQ, gain and master settings with all other controls and functions off, ie flat and same apparent levels, and with my bass the same for both, the TC beats the GKMB in every way, I tried adjusting the EQ controls the same for each amp and again the TC wins, I tried the contours and the tweeter too, this is before I used the tubetone, spectratone and tweetertone
I played a gig the other day and the band members said they loved the new amp and they were driven on more because it was so punchy, my playing was much better too .
A good amp upgrade

Very nice. I was curious how the new BH/BC lines would measure up. Seems that it's more solid gear from TC. Do the BC212's have the same vintage type sound as the RS cabs?

Just played a BH500 at GC on my lunch hour and now I can't concentrate. It's used for $379... is that a good price?

In the spirit of bartering, I would try to get them to sell it for less. But if it is in good condition, That is a lot of amp for that price as it stands. I paid 100.00 more for mine, and as satisfied as I am, I would have paid more. For Sure !

Thanks DuShauh, it looks/sounds like I'd be very happy. As someone else said, very well thought out. Any limitations?

I could not be happier.

To be honest, for my needs (knowing that everyone's will differ) I have yet to find myself limited by this head. It definitely leans on the "tubey" side tone wise. But that is a plus for me. I gig this amp 2-3 a week with various cabinets depending on the venue, and can honestly say "it delivers." I have been playing bass for over 30 years, owned many amps, some better than others for one thing or another. But I would have to admit that this is my favorite and by far the most versatile.

Cool, thanks... tubey is good. I heard Uriah Duffy's demo and it seems like everything I'd want. Now that I've blown off the whole afternoon, maybe I'll go haggle a bit with gc.

So, I went back to haggle. Posted my experience here: Thank You Guitar Center!
But the silver lining is I found it new for less money online at TMS Audio. Should have it Tuesday.

Hey, I read about your unfortunate experience with "those guys." I suppose that can happen anywhere. But good for you:And Too bad that they lost a sale by playing the wrong hand. As if you had no choice to buy elsewhere , they blew it. On the other hand, You my friend got a great deal on a (IMHO) great amp. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it when it arrives. Enjoy...

I can't really hold a grudge. Anybody can have an off day and, you're right, it can happen anywhere... been guilty of it myself. In the end, it worked out well for me. I'll update you after I have a chance to plug in, but I'm expecting great things!
