The date code on the speakers indicate that they're from the 49th week of 1969 if that helps at all.

The basket and magnet structure look a lot like the early SVT CTS speakers. The cones don't look to be the same though. Then again, I'm using an iphone with a broken screen.

Here's it set up in my guitar rig the other night.
What are those things on the end - cups for amp feet? How many?

I count ten. Odd... I'm thinking it's a modified 2x15 box.

I wonder if this could possibly be one a Jess Oliver's cabinets - he always had a flair for the unorthodox. I don't recall him making anything with 10's (usually 12's and 15's) but I supposed it's a possibility. That would also explain the likeness to Ampeg (screw hole for the dolly, clutch head screws, etc.). If not, I'd say its a modified Ampeg, either is just idle speculation on my part.

What are external dimensions? Maybe we can line it up with a standard Ampeg cab.

Edit: I see you were going to get those later. Never mind.

Looks like my square back SVT speakers from 1970. Mine however were front mounted.

Again, no doubt it was an Ampeg cab down to the clutch head screws. Can you get a close up shot of one of the speakers cones? Looks like a reconditioned/repurposed V4 2x15 folded horn cab to me. My money is still on it running old SVT CTS speakers.

That bottom hardware looks like an Ampeg dolly mount that is on my SVT Squareback, B15 and B12 from the late 60's and early 70's.

Are there cups on the bottom on the cab for the rubber bumpers on the dolly mount ?

Lightbulb argh!

This is looking quite like what I first suggested, which was a fiendish experiment by Ampeg in making things smaller probably because somebody important to them, asked them back then if it was a possibility.
What is the size of a Mach 1 mustang boot exactly.

The speaker surrounds are different to my old flatback.
But the backs of the speakers look the same from memory.

I have some not very standard very old SVT 115 cabs that I love dearly, full of the stepped alnico magneted Altec option, with slighty different porting to other Old Ampeg metal badge cabs I have seen.
Different grill cloth too, with what looks like gold thread running through it.
PS. Nice to have a cool extremely rare probably 1 or 2 off cab like that.
Bet is got some serious clang in the upper mid.

Those are the original CTS speakers ampeg used in their squareback 8x10 cabs. The bottom hardware is the dolly receptor too... maybe a custom/home made job made with the old hardware? Or as others have said, a rebaffled B25 cab?

Definitely Ampegish, from the clutch screws to the feet cups to the tolex. My B25 cab doesn't have a removeable back. I'm guessing some kind of prototype, perhaps the generous allocation of feet cups were to accomodate both tube and SS Ampeg heads. Maybe something for a NAMM show long ago....

That's a pretty good guess actually... makes sense!

I'm REALLY interested in what everyone has to say about this one! Seriously cool.
