Not the OP but IME playing in a loud rock band the V4 with an 8x10 will kill, with a 4x10 I had plenty of stage volume at most smaller venues (ie venues with only vocals in the PA). |
You are a pro, sir. It did both come with a 3-prong power cable and sound killer at the show. I tried it at one band rehearsal with one DB212 and it was overly loud in a three piece instrumental post-rock setting with a guitarist running stereo. And it seems almost perfectly tuned to play in my other band (running through an svt810) which has one guitarist running a Sovtek Mig100 & Bassman 50 stereo and the other playing a Bassman 100. It just settles in the mix and makes everything sound much much fuller and bigger, and then jumps out when it needs to. (

I had been reading about these for a long time before I ended up snagging it and there are several reviews saying its plenty loud and sounds incredible and several saying its distorted and farty at drum levels. Im sure theres several variables (tubes, age...) that make a big difference, mine has some newer J/J 7027a's and it has plenty of power and tone without switching to 6L6/6550/KT88's.
I do need a road case for it though, anyone have any suggestions on a good'n?
