NAD: Ampeg PF-500 plus cab

Returned my mesa today to guitar center. The guy was shocked at the sound/static the mesa was producing and gave me my money back right away.
Well they had the new portaflex 500 plus 2x10 matching cab at this particular gc so I checked it out and found out its not too bad! Its made in china but who cares. The mesa was made in the states and it took a crap.
I also purchased the extended warranty on the head just in case. Either way Im pretty happy with this rig for now. I dont do a lot of gigging. Just personal entertainment and it has that nice classic ampeg tone that I love!

without flash

I wish the speakers came with speakon jacks instead. Is there way to switch it out and is it hard?

I was surprised how light this cab is! Its pretty large but very light. Now only that with the fliptop you can store all your goodies in there.

did yours come with a box and manual?
i bought mine at guitar center and they said they tossed the box out and they didnt know where the manual is. so they put it in a crappy plastic bag with the power cable.

nope im in the same boat as you..Im glad it was there but I hate buying floor models..I play at church every week so I needed soemthing this week. I went in there to order a TC rh450 but when I saw it at the floor and played on it, I was happy with it. It doesnt sound like my mesa did but its enough for me. Im happy with the sounds out of it.

Only thing I think ampeg messed up was on the -15db switch. It feels like -40db when I press it.

Oh I also dont have the screws to screw on the fliptop. I emailed ampeg about it, hopefully theyll get back to me on at least the size of the screw...

Yeah floor models are kind of a pain that way. My micro vr was that way, no box, no manual, just the head and power cord. I can't actually recall if they've replaced it at that store either. I was there last week and tried out the PF-500, pretty good little head there. Same as Jimmy though, no cabs yet, so I haven't tried one.

Congrats on the amp, looks like a great little setup.

I'd install a speakon on the left hand side of the cab. Basically a new take on the old 4-pin xlr speaker connector used on the vintage Portaflexes.
