So I went to Victor Litz music to try out some Hamer Velocity basses they had in clearance to buy as a backup.
Well, I picked an amp to play through I had never used before and was wanting to try out anyway.
I tried the Velocity basses, VM Jaguars, Classic Vibe jazzes and so on to realize I couldn't get a bad tone out of them.
I realized it was the amp and walked out with this:
Darn you Ampeg. After having 3 SVT 3 Pro's that failed horribly and dealing with less than stellar QC for the Vietnam stuff, you got me again. You really can't make this amp sound bad with a passive 4 string.
Yes JimmyM, it is a VERY loud package and the wattage ratings seem unreal for the sound it produces.
Warm, full, loud, punchy. They got it right on this one. |

Rock it, man!!

We are taking a short hiatus with the band due to some babies this week so I am itching for Apr 2nd to roll around so I can gig with it.
I don't see where you would need anything else if you add a second cab to this. It would be stupid loud.

Jimmy when you get your second 2x10AV can you please play the '69 SVT through them and let me know when they start to fart out and how loud that is compared to an 8x10 or 2x15. For some reason I almost have myself convinced that is the way to get a great studio tone at a fraction of the volume from my SVT II. My local music stores don't have any 2x10AV's in the store or I would be able to try it out myself. Cheers.

Cheers. | i won't lie...if i were recording, it would be with the b-15n and not the micro vr. but i might use the 210av with the b-15n head. as far as fartout level, i would guess it would be about the same as your basic 410. i think its power handling claim of 200w rms is pretty legit. seems that way to me.

Gain - 2 o'clock
Bass- 2 o'clock
Mid- 11:30
Treble- 10 o'clock
Master- 11-12 o'clock
Not quite a nooner, but it isn't meaty enough without having the bass up a bit. |

And it sure makes the Micro VR growl! And it adds more bottom and lows. It also warms up the sound quite a bit!
Im gonna gig with the stack next sunday and thinking about selling my Mesa Boogie...

Not quite a nooner, but it isn't meaty enough without having the bass up a bit. | I haven't tried my J through mine yet, but that's similar to where I set it using my P. I actually go a little more toward 3:00 on the bass knob, and a tad less mids. Sounds unbelieveable with flats and a pick. |

| | Registered User Endorsing: Ampeg | | Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Apopka, FL | | | my settings have been bass between 2 and 3:00 depending on whether i use my p lyte or my longhorn, mids around 2:00, treble between 9 and 10:00. i keep trying to put the gain lower to make it cleaner, but i always end up creeping it up after a little while because i like that kick in the balls you get from the higher gain, so i usually set it at around 1:00 now.
