NAD:No Longer an Ampeg Virgin!

Sign in to disble this ad
Recent events have left me without an amp and gigs coming up the next two weekends. I wanted something small and light to replace the heavy rack mount amp I just sold. I had checked out the Ampeg PF-350 here on TB and it had very good reviews. Went to GC today and nabbed the last one in stock! I thought $299 was a good deal but I managed to get an extra 15% off due to a weekend trade-in event they were doing. Get this, I traded in a Behringer tuner pedal which only cost me $15 bucks, got $10 for the pedal and 15% off the amp. So a $15 tuner pedal netted me a $45 savings! The total with tax for the Ampeg was $264.83! Needless to say I'm very happy. It is just the size I was looking for and sounds great. I am looking forward to putting it through it's paces this coming weekend.

Congrats! I've got about a dozen gigs under my belt with my PF500 and couldn't be happier! The PF350 is great and will be my next purchase

It sounds very nice with my Dr. Bass 1580 but I have it up for sale. I may end up keeping it but if I don't what are some recommendations for smaller and lighter cabs to go with this head?

Will my new head attach to the flip top? If so that is way cool!

Yes, it attaches. There's a video of it on Youtube under AmpegTV.

Very nice! Just sold my Dr. Bass cabinet so looks like I will be getting one of these right away! Probably get the 1x15 first and add the 2x10 later.

Eh, not a great plan IMHO. Both will put out approx the same volume, and both have a crossover point that's probably the same and the 115 will go a little lower, and matching cabs always work well together while non matching cabs are unpredictable in how they work together. So if it were me, I'd pick one or the other for a double stack, and I'd probably pick the 115. It is, after all, a Portaflex

I was leaning toward the 115 anyway so that is what I will do. Then add another 115 down the road if needed.

thanks.

Couldn't agree more. I love my pair of PF115s...

Received my first PF-115he cabinet today. Found a lightly used one at MF. Love the way it looks and sounds. Haven't had the chance to crank it up yet because the wife wouldn't let me. Will do it in the morning after she leaves for work. As soon as I save up enough for the second one I will add it to the rig.
