I just scored a sweet trade for a Peavey TKO 65 with the Black Widow speaker. I had checked out what some of the folks here on TB had to say about it and boy were they right. This thing is great. Nice little amp, surprisingly versatile. Able to switch up tones significantly with very minor adjustments.

It is heavy. It is old. It is beat up.

But the most important thing is that it sounds awesome.

So, it says that it's rated at 65 watts but this thing sounds way louder than that to me. I have even seen some people post about using it for smaller gigs or even band practices. I'm hoping to get a trio going sometime soon and I think this will be perfect for what we're doing. Acoustic guitar or Keyboard, drummer, myself.

I've had a number of amps and I think this is the one I'm the most pleased with.

I know, no pics, no amp. As soon as I get the cord for my camera, I'll get some up here.

Congrats on your new to you, used Peavey. Those old TKO's were, and still are pretty decent all around combo amps. I'm also of the opinion that Hartley never lied about the wattage ratings of his amps, as most older Peaveys I've run across seem to deliver what they claimed to have on tap according to the factory specs, and then some. You also can't go wrong with a still working BW speaker either.

Thanks guys. I had heard of some of these TKOs that didn't have the Black Widow speaker in them. It was a nice surprise when I picked this one up to see the "BW Equipped" plate on the front of the amp.

I have had my TKO65 since 1988, fires up everytime. I never use it on a gig anymore, but it is sure fun to turn it on and play through it for nostalgia sake.
