NCD: Ampeg Heritage 810

Finally decided to try my first Ampeg 810, got a great price on a Heritage 810 from a local music store-- #008 from 2010. Pretty cool finding a first year cab especially with such a low number. It had been on the floor and had a few cosmetic scuffs, etc., so they gave me a real good price, not quite as good as that Amazon blow out sale, but still good and I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger. These 810s really bring out the full potential of the SVT. Here's a quick pic with my SVT-CL:

Congrats! Yeah, they stomp! They sound so good with the old tele/original single coil P pickup basses. Used that rig in a blues band for a while. Love.

Thanks, I'm bringing it to rehearsal tonight for its first introduction to the band, very much looking forward to it.

Me too! Tho I'll settle for any SVT810 & please let it be 'magic'.
I want it to weigh <100lbs & when I have to move it, to shrink to at least the size of a Berg NV cab
But, then grow again to its correct height when I play!

You'd be surprised, it's actually pretty easy to move because you don't lift it, you kick it back like a handtruck and roll it. When you get it to your truck just lean it back on its skid rails and lift/tilt it up and slide it back into the truck bed. (Or in my case the back of my Tahoe--it doesn't quite fit, which is why I passed on the Amazon sale a few weeks ago but I just tie the hatch shut.)

Yeah I know. I do that with my NV412. But my back's just starting to get good enough to hoik that into my van-same method-tilt, roll, lean, slide. Dunno whether I could handle another 40lbs yet.

Yeah, I certainly noticed the tilt-and-lift difference between the Ampeg 810 and Berg NV610 into my van.

I can't remember what speakers are in the Classic, but the Heritage is loaded with Heritage-stamped Eminence 10's. The speakers are secured to the cab with machine screws and T-nuts instead of the wood screws on the classic. The tolex is a different kind of softer texture, and the grill cloth is sparkly. The biggest difference is that the Heritage line is built in the U.S. by pretty much one guy, who runs them through a barrage of tests before they go out the door to ensure high quality.

And the Heritage cab is much lighter than the non-heritage versions, about 30 lbs lighter IIRC. And it is quite noticeable, at least to me.

I did my first gig with the Heritage 810 this past Saturday. The huge tone of the traditional 810 with a little more upper mid presence. Even my guitar player was impressed.Used my Thunderfunk with the Tobias 6 and it just sounded incredible.I'll be giving it a go with the Bongo 5 HHp's this Saturday. My only complaint is the wheels. Mine has hard plastic wheels instead of the usual material. Probably going to swap those out soon.

According to the specs on the Ampeg website the Heritage cab is about the same weight as th estandard 810. Heritage is 137 pounds, 140 pounds for the standard 810E.

Jeez Rod, all this 810 talk is getting me gassing for a Heritage 810. I swear if there was one available over here I would be sorely tempted. They had one in Sydney last time I was over your way.......

I know, shocking ain't it?
The last one I used was a AV model LOUD made, but USA made. From what I hear, the new Asian made one's are damn fine too.
I'm sorely tempted, but will have to sit in NV land for a while longer.
Health AND finance wise.

Best cab ever IMO.... Unfortunately, I play small-med bars and my 4x10 is even overkill.

Nothing like standing in front of an Ampeg fridge though!
