NCD! IndiLOW: The Purple People Beaters (fEARful content)

Today I got to pick up two new cabs from Dave Homer at Gigmaster Soundworks. Mirrored fEARful alphalite 12/6/1's. I have a 1515/66/1, but this is my, "'66 lite" rig. While a single woofer cab is pretty fantastic, and would cover 90% of most bassist's needs, there is a certain magic in a dual woofer set up. The 12/6/1's are tonally identical to my big cab, but I think a pair of alpha 12/6's is the sweet spot in terms of volume/size/weight/overall capability in the fEARful line.

These cabs thunder. Even with my "low powered" PF-500 I get really beefy loud bass. Toss something a little bigger on top, and these little cabs can get scary!

Here is a pic in Dave's shop. Can really see the color.

Vertical with the PF-500 on top.

Carvin B1500.

ART+Crest ProLite 3.0 on a "wide" stack.

The Classic 400 on top. The amp actually weighs more than both of the cabs together.

Single cab, practice rig.

Portaflex settings.

Personally, I find the balance of the 3012LF and the alphalite mid driver to be perfect...LOVE the tonal balance of those cabs

So...the Classic 400 has been demoted to 3rd string?

Not at all! It just wont be my first grab with these cabs. If I am hauling the Cl400 out, I will bring the 1515/66/1.

I just got two new cabs today, and I'm extremely jealous of you. Maybe not the color scheme, not my thing, but they look great and probably sound better.

I've been preaching that gospel for years! Glad others are finally catching on. (Although I have the heavier Alphas.) I truly believe that the 12/6 is the absolute top of geenboy's fEARful designs.

These boxes are not lightweights by any means. Tweeters add a fair bit, steel grill, Baltic birch. They are a touch heavier than 45 pounds. They are ROCK solid though. I knew I would be putting a 100 pound tube head on them, so it didnt make much sense to be a weight weenie.

Having played so many greenboy cabs at this point in my life, I'd have a hard time saying that. Not because I think you're wrong, but because greenboy has so many cabs that do so many things well.

The first time I ever fired up a 1515/66/1 I started laughing out loud...there simply isn't another cab made (except maybe the F215) where you can use words like 'bombast,' 'hi-fi,' 'over the top,' and 'total clarity' in the same sentence

The 15/6, like the F115 represent a lot of bang for the buck...you really could do any gig with just one of those, yet the cabs are small enough to not feel a bit silly at the little gigs.

All That being said, the 12/6/1/alphalite is genius
