A Cab That Has Me GASing: EA Content Inside!

Sign in to disble this ad
After almost a month of having my Shuttle 3.0 lying around without a cab to be paired with, I contemplated a bunch of options, mainly the Ampeg 210AV. But, a teacher of mine had me try one of his EA CXL112E (older heavier version) that he's selling as he only ever needs 1 of the 2 he has. After trying it out for a little while at his house, he said I could bring it home and try it out with my funk band with loud drummer to see how it handles the volume.

It was great! Had plenty of head room to spare, and it worked well in my prog band, too. The tone was so clear and concise, handled the low B extremely well and just got the bass across well in general. Compared to a lot of 112 cabs today, the 45 lb cab is not super light but definitely very schlep-able compared to the 80 lb 115 I was hauling around before. Aside from some scuffs on the grill, it's in great shape for an 8 year old cab that's seen a lot of use, and it performs extremely well.

After the experiences with this cab, I'm really GASing for it. Not quite sure what he'll be asking for it yet, so until then this is acting as a cool experience with a killer cab that might end up in my possesion!

Without further ado, photos!

Nice. I'm not sure why these cabs didn't catch on like some others, but I think they're loud, articulate, and cover the whole spectrum.

Agreed! This has got to be one of the nicest standalone 12s I've played, and its really efficient with the somewhat minimal power my 3.0 feeds it at 8 ohms (175W). With a 2nd one (eventually I'll look into finding one) this rig would really kick!
