NCD: Trace Elliot!

Today I got my first 8x10. A Trace Elliot 1084. Pretty sure it's pre-gibson.

I traded my old 1x15 I never use and some cash for it.

I can't wait to gig with it.

Some questions:

I'm thinking about putting some skid rails on it, would that be worth it? And if so, where is the best place to buy them??

And it smells like smoke, any way to rid it of its stench?

Thanks.

Yes -- the skid rails will do a lot to help the cabinet from getting excessive wear on it's back as you go up & down stairs, into & out of cars, etc.

I put rails on one of my 810 cabs; got 1" x 1/2" UHMW plastic rails from McMaster-Carr.

You'll have to cut the UHMW with a utility knife; due to it's friction resistance, it doesn't saw easily, but can be cut.

While you're at it, a "kick plate" will also help keep the cab in better shape--that bottom rear edge takes a lot of abuse...
