New cab day birthday. Spotted this one on craigs yesterday. Couldn't pass it up for $90. Happy birthday to me. Should match well with an old 400RB when I get some more cash. Surprised how small these thing are. Any interesting tidbits about this one? The cones have lots of little dents in them. Is that a big deal? Oh yeah it's a 410lx. One speaker Appears to be a recone.

It's the original one. Guild was Hartke's distributor when they started. Jacob was endorsing the Guild Pilot bass and hooked Larry Hartley up with Guild.

Cones shouldn't have little dents, but concentric rings of ridges are right. I had two of them when they first came out and used them right through 1997, so that was over ten years of steady gigging with them. No problems ever, and they always sounded great. I loved the punchy sound.

Maybe not so much dents as little creases? That is in addition to the normal ridges though. But the tolex is peeling, the back panel is hanging, and the grill cloth is window screen lol, so it is pretty beat up. I didn't test it loud enough to know if the dust caps are a problem. I remember reading something about them being good though and I otherwise would not be able to afford a cab of this wattage anytime soon so I jumped on it. I have a 50 watt head I can test it with so we will see what happens there.

Are the specs still the same as the new ones (400w, 8ohms)? I played my 50w stone through it and it seemed fine, very nice finally having a big cab. I guess those dents are nothing to worry about.

I believe the early ones are 240 watts at 8 ohms. I've got one as well and they are nice cabinets. I wouldn't worry much about the dents. I was ready to drive up to Dallas to get that one but it was already gone. I live in Austin.

Good to know. Thought I had it bad driving from Arlington to lewisville. Do these things normally have grill cloth or what?

It is sort of like a screen grill cloth with a removable wood frame. They didn't start with the metal grill until the Samson distribution IIRC. Here is a pic of mine from 1986. I believe yours is from 1985 by the logo placement. It looks like your top right speaker is a Hartke replacement. The early speakers did not have as many "ribs" on the cone surface as the later ones did. Mine has a replacement speaker on the bottom right. Keep me in mind if you ever want to sell it.

Indeed. Thanks for the good info. This thing appears to actually be in good shape for 26 years old. Just worn tolex and grill gone. Has all the corners.

I emailed through the 'contact us' link on your site at the beginning of the week but I have not gotten anything back. I would have called you but I work odd hours.

Also, would it be possible to use half of the cab as a 210 in the mean time?

Thanks a lot,
Brendan
Hey Brendan,
You can call my service manager Joe Antonelli 1-800-328-2882 and he will get you pricing on a 10"XL replacement driver.

Thanks,
Larry
I got ahold of Joe today and he is sending me a speaker out. I had read some old stuff I guess on Google and here about replacement speakers being a nightmare. Anyway, I got the cab for $90, and add the $73 for the shipped speaker and I'm only up to $163 in this thing, which I can handle for a good cab used. I would not spend anything over that for some cheap brand like Behringer or whatever... not even new. So thanks for being available. I should have a speaker by the time I get a reply from whoever I emailed, as I understand they are inundated at the moment.
Just in case anyone was curious.
