We are currently using a GK 1001 head and a GK RBH 4x10 cab. It sounds and works great... but is a beast. I am looking toward GK because this one has been such a horse.
GK used to make a great 1001 combo rig with wheels and a telescopic handle to wheel it around with. It came in two models.
So... the choice is between...
1. A bi-amped 1x15 with a horn, or
2. A 2x10
Several different basses will be played thru the amp--both 4-string and 5-string and both active and passive electronics.
Thanks in advance for helping a brother out.

Or you could split the difference and find a G-K Neo 2x12 - Norm Stockton's favorite with the 1001!

That amp is way to big for 2 10s. The 15RBH isn't voice to go any lower than the 210RBH, at least it didn't seem so to me. I had both at the same time and ended up selling the 15 pretty quickly and went with another 210. I owned that for years...
If I were you, I would steer towards their class D amps. If you like the GK cabs, then try the Neo cabs. There is really no reason to haul the heavy GK cabs anymore... |

While I am not married to GK... I really dig the tilt-back design as well as the ability to move it around like a moving dolly.
The bass amp we use is stationary most of the time... no tear-down every day, but when it is moved it would be nice to have a setup that ANYONE could move.
Open to other suggestions. I am actually think of sidelining the 4x10 and head and going with a smaller combo--more mobile--set up (i.e. 2x10 or 1x15). Thoughts? Anything out there that meets my preferences?

Just sell the 410RBH and replace it with a GK Neo 212-II cab to go with your 1001RB-II. Much lighter, but goes deep and handles all the power you would need. Or to go even lighter, more compact and more modular, get two (2) GK Neo 112-II cabs instead.
As far as cartage is concerned, just get a compact, heavy-duty hand truck to go with it. Problem solved.

MM | hmmmmm...... I don't agree with this. Having owned the 1001rbII and the 212, I can tell you first hand that the 212 will not handle the 1001rbII if you're trying to get some of the gk growl happening. It farts out well before growl stage. That's not a rip on the cab though, because I can't really think of a two speaker/1 cab solution that can handle the 1001rbII reliably. Personally, I think anything less than a 410 or 412 isn't going to cut it. In my case, the 212 stayed, and the 1001rbII went back to the store it came from.
To the OP......
I don't think you're going to find a lightweight solution that will allow you to squeeze out everything that head can throw at a cabinet. I'd look at the GK neo 410. It's very thick sounding down low, and is lighter than your rbh. |

also kept the 212 and thinking of either a 700rbII or Fusion 550...
like the 212 alot!! I had a neo 410 with the 1001rbII and it got very loud...very quickly! band started complaining...
sold the 1001 and 410 and trying to decide on the small of the 2 amps...to go with the 12s... Quote:
