I just got a 1001RBII and need a cab. I have a 20% off coupon at MF, so might get the matching GK Neo 2x12 cab. But, I've owned two Avatar 2x12's in the past and really liked them. Getting one in Black with grey/white basket weave would be my option. So, about the same price overall. Not sure if I'll use the GK cab bi-amped or not, but would be nice as an option. But, I've never owned a GK cab. I've tried them at GC, but that doesn't count IMO.
Thoughts? I RARELY buy new, so.... Plus, I've owned several GKs in the past, but never a GK cab to match.

Got it covered with green tolex because I had never seen a green tolex cab before. I love it - my drummer has had to tell me I'm pushing out too much low end...and that's bad how???

I'm not sure about the 212, however, the gk112 is literally just a few bucks more than the Avatar 112 if you go through RMC Audio. I bet you'll find the same thing with the 212. And with the 20% off coupon from MF, you might do even better.
I have played both the 112 and the 212, and my thoughts are that they're both a bit "looser in the booty" than the GK's. But that works for some.

I'm planning on this being "the rig" for a while, so I'm hoping I make the "better" decision. I think both would be fine. The Avatar might work better overall "if" I decide to get a different head at some time.

But the GK cabs can run with tradition full range connection like any other cab on the market can. If you decide in a year the 12's aren't doing it for you anymore the GK cab will have more name recognition on your local Craigslist . |

I've owned an Avatar 112 in the past; powered it with a GK800RB which I wish I still owned, and it sounded great...but now I've got a GKNEO212-II powered by a GK1001RB-II and it's like a dream come true. The clarity...sweetness...warmth...power...and I can lift it so easily at only 50 pounds. Love the HMS bi amp capability. Go with GK!
