I would go used Markbass... but I like Markbass. Nothing wrong with any of the choices mentioned, really a personal preference. You will find all the mentioned brands in every genre from pop to extreme metal.

I use a fender rumble 350 head. Never looked at them because fender rumbles don't have great rep, but I played one at a show and loved it. Not toany bass heads out there with a dirty channel. I love mine.

i would go Ampeg 7pro or GK 1001rb with an 810. leaning more toward the 7pro myself i own both cant go wrong. you may even be able to find a 4pro around the 700 range. and that would be a decent choice as well.
