Need a head for new cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I'm new around here and pretty new to playing bass, not even a year in yet! A buddy of mine sold me a bass cab (well a subwoofer actually) pretty cheap. So 80 bucks to him and several cans of spray paint later, I have this.

No grill on it, just a wooden box and had a crappy paint job before mine (It was nicknamed "Clown Vomit"). It's got Peavey handles on the sides, but I cracked it open and it's got a single 15 inch Carvin speaker rated 400 watts and 8 ohms. All I've used is a little practice combo and I've upgraded since I'm starting to play with some guys and I want to know what a good head would be for this that's not too expensive. Also, my buddy told me that it's lows are great, but the mids and highs suck (no surprise!) and reccommend using an ABY switch to run to something else. All I've got right now is a Fender 25w rumble for my bass and a Mustang II for my guitar. Would either of those work just to help out the mids and highs. Thanks. And sorry about the picture size. I'm not entirely sure how to adjust it.

Actually, I'd suggest selling that back to your buddy, and looking for a real, and decent bass cab. An amp is an amp after that, just a matter of personal preference.

I know the cab isn't really great, but I can't afford a nice cab and head right now. I'd rather get a nice head now and upgrade the cab later. So any advice on what would work with what I have now would bs much appreciated.

what would "work" is whatever you choose to use- it's all just personal preference. Just find something you like, within your budget. that's it.
