need help fixing ampeg b500dr

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an ampeg b500dr that won't send power to my 4x10. It turns on fine and the lights move around like it is working but no sound will come out. I've tried different cables and cabs but that won't work either.

I read somewhere that I may need a new "output resistor and a fuse" and that it is a common problem for this amp.

If someone could please explain how to go about fixing this I would be very grateful.

Thank you!

Hi.

Welcome to TalkBass ryo585.

Unfortunately, fixing amps is not something that can easily be done over the 'net, so tech time is my suggestion.

A fuse You may need, since fuses often blow or break on brownout and when the amp gets knocked around, just make sure it's the same rating as specified on the back panel or in the PCB.

Output resistors are pretty uncommon on amps, that suggestion alone would make me not to use that tech . Unless the Ampeg in question uses a different circuitry that uses output resistor for some reason.

Regards
Sam

+1 there's nothing inside of an amp that you can fix yourself, you need to find a qualified amp tech. There is no other recourse.

That particular amp is a bear...... NOT the one to start off with.

And, I don't have a good set of schematics for that one.

Off to the tech, and he/she should be a good one.
