Need help with Peavy Basic12 upgrade

Sign in to disble this ad
took the head and original woofer out of my basic 12 combo and replaced them with an ampeg portaflex 350watt rms head and a nwx 12100 woofer(8ohm). this was the best woofer i could get at the moment. but it i feel that i could get more out of the amp head. Do i need to put a port in the box to get better performance out of the woofer? its rated at 700watts max. what about adding a single piezo tweeter? would that be good enough to give me nice high ends when i pluck and slap?

There's so much more to building a bass cab than just dropping a spkr into a box. I'd suggest you read up (alot) on cab design, and all the science that goes with it.
