Need help--preamp and power amp

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to run my Fender tube preamp into both sides of a power amp. One side for the stage, the other side for a drummer's wedge.

Would a Y cord out of the preamp into the R & L side of the amp be OK?

Thanks for the help.

Preamp = Fender PB1

Amp = various choices, I'll probably use a Crown microtech

Some (most?) power amps have some provision for running the same signal to both channels. Sometimes it's as simple as flipping a switch; other times it requires a short jumper/patch cord between the inputs.

The Microtech has a parallel mono switch on the back. Run the preamp into the channel 1 input on the Microtech and select parallel mono mode.

The only question I have is if the pre has enough output to drive the Crown fully?

I couldn't find the PB1. If it's actually the TBP-1 then you'll have plenty of level:

BALANCED LINE OUTPUT
MAXIMUM OUTPUT: +19dBu minimum @ 20Hz, 600Ω

Thanks for the help.

The pre is a TBP-1. I'll opt for the Y cord over the bridged mono mode so I have control over the volume of each speaker cabinet.

Parallel, not bridged.

You will have control over the volume to each channel.
